Student Assistant

Biomia is looking for a student assistant to support our analytical chemistry workflow

Are you looking for experience in maintaining and operating high-end instruments for analytical chemistry? You may be the student assistant we are looking for to join the Biomia team developing novel Nature inspired medicines to address unmet medical needs in treatment of pain and mental health conditions.

We offer a flexible student assistant position where you’ll get experience with operations in an analytical chemistry and molecular biology lab. You’ll primarily support our workflows for targeted and untargeted metabolomic analysis but you’ll also be supporting other functions across our fermentation based manufacturing platform.

You’ll be part of a small R&D team in a fast-moving biotech start-up. The position offers plenty of opportunity for ownership of small research projects and functions based on your skills and ambitions.

What you can expect

Your tasks will include recurring and ad hoc tasks supporting our team of R&D scientists:
● Maintenance of analytical and molecular biology instruments
● Preparations of buffers and solutions for analytical chemistry and molecular biology
● Routine sample preparation.
● Administrative tasks: Invoice processing, purchase consumables, onboarding and maintaining of laboratory inventory management system (LIMS).
● Depending on skills and needs: Collaborate with R&D scientists to run experiments to develop our manufacturing platform.
We expect you to work approximately 15 hours per week in our lab facility in Østerbro close to Nørre Campus. Working hours can be flexible but should fall mainly during standard working hours (Monday-Friday 8-17). Hours will be adapted to your studies and exams.

What we are looking for

As a person, you are easy-going, proactive and well-organised. You have a positive attitude, good verbal communication skills, and a mindset for optimization. You take pride in doing high quality work, have an eye for detail, and like to learn new skills.

Qualifications and experience

● You are doing the final part of your bachelor’s or the first part of your master’s degree, preferably in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or similar
● Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
● You are proficient in English
● You have experience with good working practices in a chemistry or molecular laboratory.
● Preferably you have some experience with analytical chemistry
